It is a private endeavor which was opened as a releaver for Austin Bergstrom.I've personally never been there - I've constructed the airport from photos and satellite photography. The remainder of the objects are X-plane 10 standard library and OpenSceneryX library objects. This is the first in a series I will release aptly-named Minor Airports of Central Texas which will also feature KGTU (Georgetown), KHYI (San Marcos Municipal Airport), and T86 (Gillespie County Airport, featuring the hanger hotel, a popular getaway for puddle jumpers). This is the new Austin Executive Airport, located next to the CWK VOR. What is your impressions or others' impressions about the typical flow of events in real life? Realistically, how often does that really happen? I was under the impression that in real life, the APU is often broken and/or the airline is being cheap and requiring pilots to start one engine at the gate using the ground services, and then taxi on that engine and start the second engine during the pre-takeoff checklist (after taxi, before entering the runway). This obviously requires the use of the APU. On a slightly related note, It appears that you're doing engine starts after pushback, before taxi. Now that I know the short turnaround list needs to be completed after FMC during cold and dark startups, I won't make that mistake. I guess the problem I had, is it wasn't obvious to me that the short turnaround checklist had to be completed in addition to the long turnaround checklist if, and only if starting from cold & dark. For this reason the buildings may not be 100% accurate however I doubt many will notice.I am very happy with how they turned out. I was not afforded any access to the operations side of the airport to create this scenery. The textures for the buildings were made using photographs that I took from the public areas of the airport. The airport is my first to incorporate custom 3d models and buildings that were created in Google Sketchup. This is my first major airport project for FSX and has been in progress since 2010. Sadly the American Airlines maintenance base is set to close at the end of 2012 but is being kept alive in FSX! The airport is home to the American Airlines 777 and 767 maintenance base, FedEx Southwest Regional Sort Hub, Bell-Helicopter Training Center, DEA Air Operations Center and DynCorp International. The airport serves general aviation, corporate jet, cargo, and military air traffic on a daily basis and it's proximity to the Texas Motor Speedway (only a few miles) brings extra dense traffic on race weekends. Worth and is also nearly the same distance from the Dallas/Ft. It is located around 14 miles North of the central business district of Ft. Worth Alliance Airport opened in 1989 and was billed as the world's first purely industrial airport. Screenshot of JC Penny at Fort Worth Alliance Airport.įt. ![]()
